Moving to Sweden - Main house
The old house looked okay and it could survive the winter - I just had to install proper windows and fireplace. But the 45 sq m2 log house moved on the berggrund (ground stone?) during its 150 years history resulted in tilted walls and floors and supercold floor. However the water never froze even with -30C.
So yeah, time to move on. Its not gonna be a 100m2 loghouse which I put up in Estonia, but another wooden-wool 100m2 house. We took a piece of paper and drew this:
The center of the building is a big "warm wall" that consists of 5 tons of stones. Heating it with a fireplace makes sure the building is kept warm. And then there are two bedrooms and a main open room.First things first. Dangerous trees had to be cut down. May 2023.
Summer was nice in the countryside. View from top of the hill behind us, 100 vertical meters and 300 horizontal meters away.
And here is the closer view near the lake, few hundred meters from our spot.
And some fish from the lake.
Here comes the foundation.
Start of the chimney. August 2023.
... with some BBQ and smoked meat.
Floor trusses installed. September 2023.
Some moor wool for the floor and ceiling was needed.
Ställning was installed.
Arrival of the house.
Construction ended in November and during winter we did nothing. Work continued in March 2024 with insulation, floors, ceilings and so on. In the spring I had to reroute some mountain rivers so that they would not affect the house. Otherwise the new house would be also in a bad state soon.
Lets do some interior also now. June 2024.
Meanwhile the wild chimney was finished in August 2024. Its the 8th chimney that I put up in my life. Its always funny to cut a huge hole in the roof and know that you are the only one who will fix this.
Some visitor came up then.
Living room is getting there in August 2024.
Outside -21, inside +21. January 2025.
